There are different criteria for different certifications like for the aPHR & aPHRi high school graduation is enough even without any work experience, but the PHR, PHRca, aPHRi certifications need minimum one year of professional HR setting work experience with either a Master's or a Bachelor's Degree and the SPHRi & GPHR need a minimum of at least 2-4 years of experience with a Master's or Bachelor's Degree.
The HRCI(Human Resource Certification Institute) is an independent non-profit organization which certifies individuals that signify that they possess the theoretical knowledge and practical work experience in human resource management. This requires them to pass an examination to demonstrate their knowledge in this field. This Institute is dedicated to advancing the HR profession by administering best in class certifications.
No, you don't particularly need a HR management degree as such to be eligible for the HRCI examinations. But, since the certifications need both experience and knowledge, your area of study matters and it will for sure, play an important role in your exams.
The HRCI does not determine the passing score in the normal way. HRCI uses the modified Angoff method to set the score on every Exam, which is basically a standard method that uses field experts for setting cut scores on credentialing exams. A cutoff score is defined as the lowest score of the candidate. This method decides exactly how many questions you need to answer correctly to pass the Exam.
HRCI has test centres all around the world, and you can check it up online in select locations using On VUE, which is the Pearson VUE website. Once you apply and receive a unique 9- digit HRCI testing ID, search for the nearest Pearson VUE test center or learn more about online testing before plan your testing experience. The online and test center appointments are first-come, first-served basis. So, it's better if you start scheduling your Exam as soon as your application is approved because then you are more likely to secure your preferred testing date and time.
HRCI randomly audits a percentage of applicants to verify and confirm the accuracy of the information provided to maintain accreditation with the NCCA (National Commission of Certifying Agencies).

After these are submitted, your audit will take (10) business days to be reviewed.
