My journey of pursuing the US CMA has been incredible till now. I still remember the day I met Sripal sir for his suggestion on whether I should join CMA or take up other professional courses in finance. After listening to me patiently and considering all my concerns he suggested that I take up this course. I opted for CMA because of two major reasons. First one being that the course meets all the international standards which is upgraded frequently as per the changing demands in the market. Second reason being that it is very well designed as it covers majorly all the concepts which are required for a management accountant.
I took up online classes for part 1 from Simandhar and I also used Becker’s classes which are also available as Simandhar is the official partner of Becker in India. These two served as great input resources for me since the concepts were explained very clearly which is of utmost importance for clearing the paper 1. Initially I was a little sceptical about Paper 1 as many people describe it as the most difficult paper out of the two.
But as the classes progressed and syllabus was being covered the complete faculty of Simandhar were very helpful.They would be reachable to the students at any point of the day and would go out of their way in explaining or helping us clear the doubts.
Once the portion was completed my only target was to practice as many MCQs as possible. Both Simandhar and Becker provided a magnificent amount of question banks which helped me analyse my areas of weakness. The section wise MCQs helped me the most as it pin pointed out the areas where I needed to improve and the areas which I was good at.
For essay questions, the answer should be short and crisp such that it covers all the points required by the question. If the concept is clear then essay questions are easy to handle.
I would definitely suggest all the CMA aspirants to complete all the MCQs that are provided by both Becker and Simandhar at least once as that helps in gaining confidence for the paper.
